The book of games dream

Seven years ago, my friend had a dream in which there was this really thick leather-bound book on the table in front of him. His spiritual teacher was in the dream and told him it was a book of all the (dishonest) games that his girlfriend played. My friend's and my interpretation of the dream was clear. Surely the dream was telling him that he was supposed to get out of this relationship ASAP- as there was no chance at being real with someone that played so many games.

But several years later I came to see the dream differently. I think my friend's teacher in the dream was definitely trying to show him that the games were there- but not so he would leave. Rather, I think his teacher was challenging him to care enough to sort through the games to connect with her. That his teacher was offering him the book of her games in the spirit of, "Here is your mission should you choose to accept it."

We all have a book of games. We all have unresolved issues and fears that directly affect our significant others. But contrary to what my friend and I thought, that does not necessarily mean we should leave or judge them. Sometimes, it means that we have work to do in order to be more honest with each other.

So why did we initially interpret the dream as him needing to leave? One of the downsides of our current analytical and psychological culture is that we sometimes find people's issues and then use them as an excuse to cut and run- so that we do not have to get close.

Rather, why not celebrate the awareness of each others' issues in a relationship? It can just as easy be seen as an opportunity to be closer.

I suppose whether or not I decided to cut-and-run, supposing my partner had a book of games so thick I could barely lift it, would depend on the types of games s/he played and how much the "games" negatively impacted me, directly.

Thanks for your comment Tami. This may have been one of those blogs that was more for me than its readers. This dream and idea has helped me not cut and run in my relationships. And to be mindful that I have issues too. Seems loving to accept each other despite the issues somehow. Do not know if I was able to convey the concept effectively. I found it to be a challenging subject, but had to write it. Mike

there are only 2 ways to do this, they are either faomus or have connections, for example with me my sister is a professional gamer and my aunt designed the game medal of honor so therefore i get a lot of video games free i can promise you that no company will just hand you a few new games for reviewing on a blog. in that case nothing would ever be new any joe could just ask for a game saying that he is a critic even though he is not. work your way up get people to notice you! start by reviewing games as they come out that's when people want to know about them not before hand! so Dr. house is right. No, for an ordinary person, i can guarantee you will find somebody with connections. in theory you know everyone in this world through six degrees of separation or less do some research on that.

okay for part one, not all games on the ps3 have trophies, games like waawrhk, grand theft auto 4, rock band 2 are 3 that i know of right now. i have heard of a few other games like drakes uncharted has them, if i knew the list i would gladly inform you. now for part two. there is no CONFIRMED date for the OPEN BETA TRIAL or RELEASE DATE of if. Sony has been pushing for it to be released quarter 4 of 08, which in the time frame it has till the end of December. the only thing i know about HOME is that annual Qore members and a few other lucky people (grits teeth) received private invites to the closed beta of HOME.
