Single acts of resistance

This is the good resistance. Resisting against the status quo. Resisting against settling for a life that you are not entirely happy with. Not that there is anything wrong it. You just deserve more. You deserve newness and freedom.

Change happens incrementally. Few of us have the luxury of restructuring our lives all at once. We still have to continue with the routines of our work and commitments. But if you can do at least one single act a day that resists against the grind and invests in the life you want- it makes a huge difference.

It plants seeds that will germinate and develop- even while you are occupied with your existing life. It creates hope and momentum. And it takes you another step closer.

So wake up in the morning and ask yourself, "What is one thing that I can do today to take another step toward the life I want?" It gives yourself a signal that your new life is unfolding one step at a time. It tells you that you are not static. You are not stuck. And most of all, that you have not given up.

One of my newly found heroes is always saying, "You have to fight for the life you want." She is insistent, "Come on, get up and fight." It is powerful. She rallies people and awakens the fight in them. She brings them back from having given up and given in.

So don't just let the status quo of your life push you around. Push back- with single acts of resistance.

It is like saying, I will do everything required of me today to keep everything intact and everyone happy. But I am also going to do this one thing for the life that I dream of.
