See yourself as walking toward

If you do not have what you want (yet), your ability to attain it depends on the way that you view yourself in relation to what you want.

Decide what you want and commit yourself to it. Know that it is going to happen- it is just a matter of time. Every day take another step closer to what you want. It could be a small step like making a phone call, sending an email, or researching something. But every day, take another step.

When you get frustrated with the lack of what you really want, remind yourself that you are walking toward it. You are not trapped in a static situation. You are moving forward. Soon you will have what you want.

How you view yourself in relation to what you want makes all the difference in the world. Usually we do not have what we want because we do not believe it is possible. We frustrate ourselves by the way we present it to ourselves. We say, "I am never going to have what I want." Or, "Why can't I ever have the things that I want," and so on. No wonder we get depressed and give up. We are bumming ourselves out by the way we present it to ourselves.

Rather... see yourself as walking toward it. Your mind translates this as having it. Dare to believe that you will have it. Risk disappointment. Your ego will tell you, "I don't want to get my hopes up only to be disappointed again." Don't buy it.

Make a list of all the things you will need to do to pull off what you want. Keep adding to the list. Then every morning ask yourself, "What is one thing I can do today to take another step toward what I want?" Refer to your list. At the end of the day, acknowledge it; see that you are closer to what you want. This keeps your momentum moving forward.

Until one day, you will take another step toward it, and you will realize that you have it.
