Security-seeking meets Risk-taking

shutterstock_113321221People that seek security tend to take charge of things. When they meet someone, they are conditioned to take control of the situation and the relationship to insure that everything is safe. People that take risks have less of a need to control things. When they meet someone they tend to allow others manage the administrative details.

So what do you think will happen when a security seeking person meets a risk taking person? The security seeking person tends to take control of the relationship or situation. This doesn’t generally bother the risk-taking person much. In fact, he may be happy that the security-seeking person is dealing with the details, finances, meetings, and red tape.

So there is tendency for the security-seeking people to take control of the administrative decisions in marriages, businesses, work places, committees, etc. And there is certainly an upside to this. Security-seeking people tend to be more accomplished at taking charge of things. Delegating and making executive decisions come naturally to them.

So what’s the problem?

Risk taking people tend to be more accomplished at trying new things, intimacy, and vitality. These things may not get booked into schedule by the security-seeking person. Your marriage, business, or work place may be deprived of the risk-taking elements required for growth, innovation, and passion.

So security-seeking people... perhaps it is time to allow and even encourage the risk taking people to rock the boat a bit in your marriage, business, or work place. It will push your edges, but allow balance, growth, and innovation.

And risk-taking people.. perhaps it is time to get involved the decision making process a bit more. I know it’s boring, but your perspective needs to be at the table.

Hi there just wanted to give you a quick heads up.
The text in your post seem to be running off the screen in Opera.
I'm not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with browser compatibility but I figured I'd post to let you
know. The design and style look great though! Hope you get the issue fixed soon. Kudos
