Defining moments

There are moments in our life in which the choices we make determine the course of our lives. We put out our intention for the things we want. We draw them to ourselves. (This is what The Secret and Law of Attraction talks about.) It is ultimately whether we are willing to embrace it or not that determines us having it.

Marriages, divorces, having children, and accepting jobs are obvious defining moments. But I would argue that the true defining moments are more subtle. They happen long before the marriage or divorce happens. Sometimes they build up (especially if we put them off)- so we are forced to decide. Other times they may come and go without us ever realizing it.

I would argue that if we could become aware that we were in a defining moment and what the choices and stakes were, we would be better able to claim the life that we want for ourselves.

So how can we tell when we are in a defining moment? We have to feel it. Conflict is usually involved. It feels like we are being pulled in two different directions (probably because we are). There may be something we have always wanted involved. One option might require that we let something go to proceed. Usually there is an intensity about the experience. This feeling is a "wake up call" that alerts us to the fact that we probably ought to be paying attention.

In retrospect, the things that I asked for have always presented themselves to me. God, Spirit, or Creation has never let me down. The times that I did get what I wanted, it was me that could not accept it. It was right there for me. I betrayed myself. As well, it was me that was able to accept the beautiful things that I did create for for myself.

There is an expression, "You better watch what you ask for, because you just may get it."  I would phrase it that the thing you asked for definitely will present itself to you. And then, as my mentor used to ask me, "When it does, what are you gonna do with it?"

That will be your defining moment.

Right now it seems like Wordpress is the best blogging platform available right now. (from what I've read) Is that what you're using on your blog?
